Description
VINTAGE BEAUTIFUL NATURALLY-AGED GENUINE 1987 ARKANSAS VALLEY, COLORADO, STATE FAIR LEADING HORSEMAN, GOBINS AWARD WESTERN AMERICAN TROPHY BELT BUCKLE---This trophy buckle has one of the very nicest, naturally-aged finishes we have seen. It shows the expected and normal slightly darker tones and minor tarnish that can only be produced by natural oxidation & wear over the many decades since it was awarded. It was presented at Colorado's Arkansas Valley State Fair in Rocky Ford, Colorado in 1987. This region is well known for cantaloupe & watermelon farming. In fact, the fair began in 1878 and was originally called Watermelon Day. It's also the oldest continuous state fair in the state of Colorado. The buckle measures just under 4" x 2 7/8" and fits belts up to 1 1/2" wide. It was produced by R & R Buckles and the metal is nickel silver, as the hallmark indicates. Many of these R & R buckles have sterling fronts, and this one might as well, but we cannot see that hallmark. It's a great western American collectible buckle!!3030-A
