For sale here is an early, antique, clear, embossed, square shape, cork top, root beer extract bottle from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The bottle is embossed HIRES / HOUSEHOLD EXTRACT on side one, PHILADELPHIA, PA. / U.S.A. on side two, MANUFACTURED BY / THE CHARLES E. HIRES CO. on side three, and FOR HOME USE on side four. Likely dates to around 1920. About 4.5 inches tall. No chips or cracks. Some scratches and wear and some stain and haze. Some pretty iridescence when held at the right angle.
