Description
From a Tucson estate some years ago and likely someone's go to favorite during the annual Fiesta de Los Vaqueros once upon a time is this large obviously vintage Navajo turquoise and coral chip inlay silver trophy buckle - cowboy on bucking bronco to center and a plethora of visual panache. The quality of the inlay and old time bronco depiction are fully indicative of skilled crafting in another era. I should mention there is additional ornamentation flanking the figural centerpiece - not exactly 4-leaf clovers, though perhaps meant to be (whatever the case, they provide balance and the look is great). There is a conjoined "JF" struck to the back. That said and for the aficionado, the cowboy hanging on for 8 seconds as depicted on this Southwestern wearable artwork says it all. Weight is very good for the form at about 109.2 grams on my portable digital scale - that's 3 1/2 Troy ounces of silver. Condition is quite good for the circumstance of use though not absolutely pristine perfect, with an aura of time to the surfaces and honest evidence it served on a belt. There is ancient loss of some inlay on the neck of the bucking horse - this mention has darkened with age so is not very obtrusive (the buckle worn about just so during the period), but there so I'm bringing it up. Usual and expected toned over old surface scuffs and scratches from period service complete the picture. So you know the sturdy trader supplied swivel belt loop and hook are still up to the task. A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition - this tribal effort from the long ago should do the trick in high style. Size is about 4 1/16 in. long and 3 1/16 in. vertical; the bar would fit up to a 1 1/2 in. belt. I don't know what else to say, so there you are.Payment Terms
