Description
Medium-sized Nashbar cordura nylon panniers, suitable for front or rear use. These are an older model, but appear to have been very lightly used. The bag incorporates an internal, plastic suspension frame that works very well to hold the shape of the bag and make it easier to load and unload. The frame is designed to be sufficiently flexible to avoid breakage, should the bike fall over, but strong enough to support the bag's load. Single pocket on the outside will be very handy for keeping some items accessible. These would make great commuter panniers. Zippers all work smoothly. There is some cosmetic oxidation on the steel hardware, no tears, wear, or broken parts that I can find.Features:
Capacity: approx 600 cubic inches per side in the main section plus 96 CI per side in the pocket, giving approx. 1400 cubic inches total
13" tall, 8.5" wide, 5.5" deep main section
8" wide, 6" tall, 2" deep external pocket on each side
Mesh pockets front and rear for quick storage on the road (great for quickly stashing that bill you just found on the bike path!)
Either bag can be used on either side of the bike
Reflective stripes front & rear
Velcro safety straps at top to keep the bag from hopping off your rack if you hit a large bump
D-rings on top for carry strap (not included)
Snaps to join bags for easier carrying
Plastic sleeve over retention spring to protect the finish of your rack
US made!
You need a front or rear rack to mount these. Depending on your rack style, you may need to attach a couple of hooks (not included) to loop the bottom of the retention springs over.
I bought these used several years ago as a spare commuting set, but my current set is still in good shape and, my commuting has changed and I don't think I am going to need these. Buyer gets both panniers, as pictured in the photos, nothing else. No, you don't get the sweet, vintage Bianchi. I think the panniers look bigger than they really are in the photos of them mounted on a bike. Best to go by the actual measurements.
BTW, it may defy logic, but you can ride a bike with a single pannier and you probably won't notice the difference, even if carrying a heavy load. Try it sometime. This auction is one price for the pair, as a set.
