This huge & heavy original 1988 premium American made GIST trophy buckle is in good pre-owned condition. It has an awesome looking naturally aged finish that has developed over the 30+ years since it was awarded. This one has been worn some, but who wouldn’t proudly wear a trophy buckle like this one? It is very impressive. Overlay is a term used by many trophy buckle manufacturers that means a heavy layer of sterling silver was bonded, not plated, to the buckles surfaces. The result is much better appearance and durability than electroplated buckles. They do not peal like some electroplated buckles do, as the sterling is thicker and attached much more securely to the surface. Overlay buckles will age just like actual sterling buckles, developing a slightly darker look over time. Also they can be cleaned & polished to shine like new again if you’d like. We prefer the natural look, as this one features. It was hand made by one of America’s finest trophy buckle silversmith/makers, GIST.  Measures 4 1/2” x 3 7/8”, fits belts up to 1 1/2” wide and weighs a hefty 165 grams or just under 6 ounces.
