For sale is an exceptionally rare c. 1930s-1940s ED BOHLIN full four-piece ranger buckle set in sterling, 10k, and rubies. This fits a ¾ inch belt. This set is one of Bohlin’s most easily recognizable classic designs, and features the coveted football hallmark DOUBLE SIGNED on the buckle and tip. See pictures for the 1941 catalog page with this buckle. Please note this buckle is slightly different than the one shown, I suspect the double keeper and shorter tip were custom orders because there is no record of this exact four-piece set in any other catalogues. It is definitely not the New Yorker or another Bohlin model.
Personally I think the two thinner keepers are easier on the belt leather than the one thick keeper, and the double rubies/flowers look very handsome.
It is exceedingly rare to find a whole four-piece set, this one even has the original gold-tone pins for the belt tip (please note the old belt leather is still in there and will have to be removed). It is also very hard to find a ¾ inch set, most vintage sets I’ve noticed are 5/8 inches wide. Having a proper belt tip also allows you to buy many of the 2-3 piece sets without worrying about an incomplete belt!
This set is in excellent condition, the engraving is strong. There is some gold loss to the shield and floral detailing but all the rubies are tightly fitted and this piece remains an iconic classic. Included for the bidder’s reference in the photos are similar sets that I have found, please note those differ slightly from this set (either newer or larger or a similar style) and I have not found this exact set for sale on internet records, but based on these auction prices and the explosion of Bohlin prices recently I believe this is a reasonable asking price.
