Collectible Victor Coochwytewa Hopi Overlay Belt Buckle

Presented for sale here is a very collectible and classic Hopi overlay belt buckle by the well-known silversmith, Victor Coochwytewa. This beautiful buckle features a bear as the focal point along with other traditional Hopi designs. It is very crisp and well made. It is marked as being sterling silver.
MAKER: Hallmarked VC along with Victor's well-known rain cloud hallmark. The artist Victor Coochwytewa (1922-2011; Hopi) was active beginning sometime in the 1940s. He is a multiple award winning artist and in 1994 was declared a Arizona Indian Living Treasure. He started out as one of the famous Hopi GI bill class graduates from 1949-1951.
APPROX AGE: Circa 1970s - 1980s.
SIZE: 2-5/8 inches wide X 1-3/4 inches tall. Fits a 1 inch belt. Weighs 52.7 grams.
CONDITION: Good for its age, normal wear expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
