Hello and WELCOME BACK to all of my loyal customers over the years. I have recently returned to Ebay after two years abroad, and I am happy to once again offer some of the FINEST and RAREST vintage collectible Western Trophy Buckles and Ranger Sets in the United States. Most ALL of my items are ORIGINAL, not modern reproductions of the originals. These are the REAL McCOYS!!!
Made by one of the FINEST of ALL Buckle Makers and Engravers....DON ELLIS of Seattle, Washington, offered here is a VERY RARE and HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE Sterling and 14K RODEO TROPHY BUCKLE made to accommodate a 1 1/2 inch belt in THREE COLORS of GOLD (Bull Rider and twisted rope trim in YELLOW GOLD; Scrolls and Leaves in GREEN GOLD; Banners in ROSE GOLD.) The banners read, "CHAMPION BULL RIDER 1955 WOODENVILLE RODEO" and "WON BY WILLIE WADA." Some of the letters still have the original BLUE ENAMELING inside.....A TRUE MASTERPIECE!!!
Additionally, this particular buckle is featured in the book, "Art of the Buckle," by Arndt & Emmerling, on page 117, as is seen in the photos. (The book is not part of this sale. It is considered one of the FINEST EXAMPLES of DON ELLIS MASTERY!!!
In my opinion, DON ELLIS was the finest engraver of his time....as evidenced by the INCREDIBLE "BRITE CUTS" of his handiwork. These items were highly coveted sets...as they remain today. Just look at the UNIQUE and INTRICATE SINGLE-POINT HAND ENGRAVING
. DON ELLIS died in 1969. The buckle is marked "DON ELLIS CO. SEATTLE STERLING," and measures approximately 4 1/4 inches by 3 inches.
