I have recently returned to Ebay after two years abroad, and I am happy to once again offer some of the FINEST and RAREST vintage collectible Western Trophy Buckles and Ranger Sets in the United States. Attributed to one of the RAREST and most SOUGHT-AFTER of ALL the MAKERS....AL PACETTI. One of his EARLIEST WORKS, this is a
Filigreed gold scroll and floral design over sterling around a central silver "B" on this hinged compact or case. Engraved on the bottom "Jan 26' / 1945". Maker marked inside "MADE BY / ALVIN PECETTI / RENO NEV". Measures 2 1/2" x 2 3/4".
Al Pecetti is an Emeritus Silversmith with the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association.
Pecetti was a third generation Nevadan and a prominent member of Reno’s community of fine craftsman. His 60-year career began in the sliver shops of Jack Starr and Hoot Newman, before establishing his own custom shop in the late 1940’s.
Filigree work in yellow, green and rose gold became Pecetti’s trademark style. His buckles also featured highly detailed figures, struck from his own handmade dies.
Pecetti encouraged and influenced generations of craftsmen including Mark Drain, Scott Hardy, Carl Norris and the late Dan Murray. He also collaborated on projects with Al Tietjen, Bill Maloy,
Luis Ortega and Les Garcia.
Calgary’s Cowboy Festival honored Al Pecetti in 1996 as one of the Legends of Western Craft and in 1998 he became a founding member of the Traditional Arts Association.
